RALEIGH, NC â The Vance Cougars knocked out Rolesville 35-14 to win their second straight State Championship. Austin Grier threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cougars and grab the gameâs Most Valuable Player honors.
Grier sealed his MVP award with a pair of third quarter touchdown passes, both to Asuani Allen to push the Vance lead out to 35-14 with 3:03 to go in the third quarter, before the Vance offense watched their crushing defense bring things home in the fourth.

Top-ranked Vance began its early 2021 season by going on the road and defeating No. 3 Mallard Creek by a 27-7 final margin. The Cougars found pay dirt on four occasions all rushing in Friday night s win. Sophomore running back Daylan Hollywood Smothers had two scores on the ground.
