KUALA LUMPUR: The administration of SMK Convent Bukit Nanas has thanked the government for extending the land lease of the 122-year-old mission school here. “We are grateful and thank the government of Malaysia for extending the land lease for 60 years, ” said Lady Superior of the Society of Saint Maur, Sister Theresa Chua Siu Yan. She added that the school s administration thanks Malaysians for their love, care and concern towards the well-being of Convent Bukit Nanas. Sister Mary Theresa Chua was accompanied by lawyers Datuk Joshua Kevin, Damien Chan and Leonard Gomes. The support for the school demonstrated over the past days has certainly encouraged us, particularly the teachers who have toiled to ensure the children continue to receive a good education, she said in a statement on Thursday (April 22). ....

The Federal Territories Minister said the issue of the iconic all-girls school was never referred to him and he has been trying to get more information on the matter. I personally think that CBN should not be touched and should be allowed to continue operating. Land ownership issues are something that we can discuss. I would like to meet the CBN Sisters and lend an ear to find out more. ....
