‘A Memory Of A Memory’: The Coral talk Live4ever through the creation of new album Coral Island 21 April, 2021 The Coral are arguably too big to be regarded as a ‘cult band’ but not big enough to dominate the festival circuit. The Liverpool quintet have spent nearly 20 years sustaining a loyal fanbase; loyal for good reason. Despite forthcoming album Coral Island being their eighth studio effort (ish….it’s complicated), their quality control across each has been incredibly high. Indeed, the new album can stake a realistic claim of being their best yet, as recent singles Faceless Angel, Love Undiscovered and Vacancy emphatically attest to. ....
Before the lawsuit got to court, however, the office reversed its stance. Prosecutor Chad Enright acknowledged the conflict could have been avoided along with the possibility of shelling out even more tax dollars to settle the lawsuit had prosecutors first contacted Dominic Campese about his March 2020 request for “Brady material. “The better way to have done this is just clarified with Mr. Campese and his attorney exactly what they wanted,” Enright said. “We misunderstood what they were looking for.” Campese, who lives in Seattle, has produced a video and podcasts casting a critical eye on the Kitsap County Sheriff s Office-led investigation of the July 3, 2019, fatal shooting of Stonechild Chiefstick by a Poulsbo police officer. ....
The Wirral group s tenth studio album, Coral Island, will feature 85-year-old Ian Murray (also known as The Great Muriarty) on guest vocals. The spiked apple has fallen squarely at the foot of the family tree in this latest chapter of The Coral s story, with Mr Murray being the granddad of founding band members, James and Ian Skelly. Announcing back in January that they had completed their first ever double-album, to be released on Friday, April 30, the band alluded to a mysterious, unnamed special guest. The vividly themed, double album delves into the familiar neverworld of Coral Island, soundtracking the spills of summer and the long shadows of tourist-free winters beside the seaside. ....
NME that the grandad of frontman and drummer James and Ian Skelly has joined the band as guest vocalist on their forthcoming double album ‘Coral Island‘. Fuelled by their own fairground memories and fantasies, the band’s 10th album sees them soundtracking bustling seaside towns in the summer on the first half of the record before waltzing into the lonely lives of characters who inhabit the island during the cold winter on the second. Ian Murray, 85, was recruited to perform as ‘The Great Muriarty’ on the record – a tour guide narrating in between songs about the stories behind Coral Island. You can view a clip of him narrating below. ....
Last modified on Tue 16 Feb 2021 04.50 EST “Have you got that record that goes ah-woo-ooo-ooh-yeah-yeah?” It’s a scene familiar to anyone who spent time in a hardcore rave record shop in the 1990s – a punter asking for a tune they’ve heard on pirate radio or at a rave but they don’t know the title of, so they mimic the riff or sample hook hoping someone behind the counter recognises it. A relic of pre-Shazam life, the ritual is preserved in an advert for Music Power Records aired on the pirate station Pulse FM in 1992. Nick Power, owner of the north London shop, recalls that no matter how mangled the customer’s rendition, “nearly always, you’d be able to identify the exact record they were looking for”. In the advert, Power plays the roles of both sales assistant and punter, pinching his nose to alter his voice. Almost 40 years later, the comic skit commercial has been resurrected alongside others on two volumes of London Pirate Radio Adverts 1984-1993, ....
