Councillors in Meath have voted against a controversial proposal which would have brought an end to one-off rural housing.
A proposal contained in the draft County Development Plan would have meant that planning permission for one-off rural housing would only be granted if the applicant owned 15 acres of land.
A motion tabled on behalf of the Technical Group on Meath County Council, which called for the current policy to be maintained, was passed by 23 votes to 11.
