In service, satisfaction Virtual ‘Legacy of Learning’ session will address everyday altruism As a Guiding Value, “service before self” shapes the Norwich University’s community’s behavior and attitudes. During the coronavirus pandemic, marked by distancing and remoteness, service may sometimes amount to simple kindness. At 12:30 p.m. Friday, the Center for Civic Engagement will lead a virtual “Legacy of Learning” session on service “Service-Living: How to Integrate Service into Your Everyday Life for a Positive Impact.” In the session, Center for Civic Engagement Director Nicole DiDomenico M’15 and Assistant Director Abigail Joyal ’19 will join moderator Jenny Goudreau ’90, a professional educator and leadership coach, to explore volunteerism virtual or distanced and its benefit to mental and physical health.

Norwich receives $1 12 million on two contracts from the US Army Engineer R&D Center

Related Company:  For Arctic Microgrids and Energy Resilience education Vermont Business Magazine Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) announced today that it has successfully secured two contracts received under the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Broad Agency Announcement process totaling $1.12 million. Regarding the Arctic Microgrid program, worth $625K, work in this initial effort will identify the necessary requirements to characterize, design, simulate and develop plans to prototype and test the cold regions microgrids. These systems will be built upon an open architecture to allow modular construction and operation in response to location and operational issues. Consideration for remote monitoring and operations and cybersecurity constraints will be integrated into the program with oversight from the ERDC Cold Regions Research & Engineering Laboratory (CRREL).

Center for Global Resilience and Security names new board member By NU Office of Communications December 10, 2020 NORTHFIELD, Vt. Norwich University’s Center for Global Resilience and Security (CGRS) named Dr. John R. Mullin to its advisory board. His three-year term began Oct. 20. Mullin is emeritus professor of regional planning in the University of Massachusetts at Amherst’s Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning Department, associate director of its Center for Economic Development and former dean of its Graduate School. His research and professional interests focus on industrial revitalization, port development and downtown planning. Mullin, a senior Fulbright scholar, has written or edited more than 100 book chapters, book reviews, technical reports, journal articles and conference proceedings. He is a retired U.S. Army National Guard brigadier general.
