The National Road Carriers Association is calling for an urgent review of the
state highway network as consultation begins to reassess speed limits on nearly two-thirds of Northland s state highways.
Speed limits on 626km – 64
per cent - of the 978km of roading the Government s transport agency maintains across the region could be slashed as part of sweeping nationwide changes to reduce the road death toll. ....

A man in Northland was taken to a managed isolation facility yesterday
two days after allegedly breaching border control rules when he arrived in the country before travelling north.

Women's World Cup postponement will impact many - Eden Park

The tournament was set to take place in September and October, with seven games - including the finals - being hosted at Auckland s Eden Park.
However, World Rugby said after talking to the New Zealand Government, New Zealand Rugby and the teams, it decided there was too much uncertainty due to Covid-19 to be sure of a successful tournament and it will likely be delayed until next year.
Eden Park chief executive Nick Sautner said the event industry was already in crisis due to Covid-19 and the tournament s delay could have major impacts. ....

2021 was touted as being the golden year for women s rugby.
Back-to-back major international tournaments with the Tokyo Olympics for the sevens, to be followed by the first women s Rugby World Cup to be held in the southern hemisphere.
But now World Rugby s recommended postponing the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand until next year.
The news that the Rugby World Cup was under threat blindsided Black Ferns captain Eloise Blackwell.
On her morning run today Blackwell got an email from New Zealand Rugby, quickly followed by an alert about the postponement from a media organisation. ....
