NORTHAMPTON – Massachusetts State Police arrested a 46-year-old Vermont man Tuesday on drug trafficking charges after he was stopped for an unreadable license plate on Route 91 in Northampton.
Trooper Tyler Hersom of the Northampton State Police barracks was monitoring traffic on the highway when he observed a gray Nissan sedan pass by with an unreadable license plate and initiated a traffic stop, according to State Police. ....

Rick Colson’s life took an unexpected twist more than a decade ago when he left a long career as a businessman to care for his ailing wife.
When she died from an environmentally related cancer in 2010, Colson embraced sustainability. He launched a sustainable photo lab business and later explored sustainability in the building trades.
Then last fall, while he was looking for a new project to showcase sustainable ways to build, the Northampton resident noticed a house for sale near his home.
He bought the 1,000-square-foot home at 7 Rust Ave. and embarked on a mission: “My primary goal was to produce the most sustainable possible rehab and let people know what’s possible,” he said. ....

NORTHAMPTON Massachusetts General Hospital’s chief of emergency medicine, and a 1981 Amherst Regional High School graduate, will assume the role of interim president and chief executive officer at Cooley Dickinson Health Care on Monday.
Dr. David F.M. Brown, a member of Cooley Dickinson’s board of trustees since 2013, takes over for Joanne Marqusee, who is stepping down after seven years at the helm of the Northampton hospital.
“I’ve seen the progress this organization made under Joanne Marqusee’s leadership and I’m looking forward to building on her legacy,” Brown said in a statement. ....

NORTHAMPTON A 38-year-old Charlemont man charged with robbing a city bank of more than $12,000 in cash was ordered held without bail in Northampton District Court on Wednesday after a judge determined he poses a danger to the community.
David W. Jones Jr., of 2103 Route 2, was arrested at a residence on Heath Stage Road in Charlemont last Thursday just hours after he allegedly robbed People’s United Bank on King Street and drove off in a pickup with a bag of cash, according to police reports. Jones is being held at the Hampshire County Jail and House of Correction and earlier pleaded not guilty to a charge of armed robbery while masked.  ....
