University of the Sunshine Coast A USC Medical Laboratory Science graduate has been promoted from technician to scientist at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) within months of gaining both her associate degree and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science. “I’ve just received an offer to join the GCUH haematology/transfusion department as a scientist,” said a delighted Chelsea Gillett, 24, formerly of Buderim. Chelsea, who attended her USC Sunshine Coast graduation ceremony for both degrees in April, has been working at the hospital since January, when she was selected for one of 12 positions with the Pathology Queensland graduate program. Three other positions in the statewide Pathology Queensland program for 2021 went to graduates of the two-year USC Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, designed to fast-track students into careers as technicians.

Police say he was involved in a heated verbal exchange with two men outside the facility moments before he died 3km down the road - and are investigating whether one was the woman s current partner.

Identity of man killed in highway crash at Benaraby revealed

Premium Content Subscriber only UPDATE, 8.40AM: A man killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway at Benaraby on Wednesday night has been identified as a 55-year-old Narangba man. According to Queensland Police Service, a truck was heading south on the Bruce Highway at 11.30pm when a SUV, also travelling south, collided with the rear of the truck near the Caltex in Benaraby. The passenger of the SUV died at the scene. The female driver of the SUV was transported to the Gladstone Hospital in a stable condition with spinal precautions. The Bruce Highway was blocked in both directions at Benaraby.
