Steven Dale Latter, 28, and Benjamin Charles Johnson, 29, both faced Southport Magistrate Court on Monday charged with murder. Police will allege the pair were waiting on Nerang-Murwillumbah Road on Friday - the day Johnson s former partner Rheannon Rowe was released from Numinbah Correctional Centre in the Gold Coast hinterland. Police allege Ms Rowe was met by her family and her new partner Jake Opacic, whose brother Tom plays for the Parramatta Eels, just after 10am. ....

A Gold Coast dealer had no idea his lawyer s car was bugged by investigators when they allegedly stopped to score cocaine the day he got parole on a separate drug matter, a court has heard. Criminal lawyer Campbell MacCallum was already the subject of a Crime and Corruption Commission investigation when Craig Mitchell Armstrong faced court in May 2020. Armstrong received a 20-month sentence and took advantage of immediate parole by allegedly organising cocaine within a matter of hours , the Brisbane Supreme Court was told on Monday. Armstrong, 27, pleaded guilty to trafficking, drug possession and possessing tainted property.
