Residents Push For The "City of Navarre"

A new effort to incorporate Navarre is in the works and seeking public input.
Preserve Navarre is hosting an in-person meeting on Sunday, where the nonprofit will launch its web-based survey of 10 questions to help gauge interest and concerns about incorporating “Florida’s Most Relaxing Place.”
Resident Wes Siler started the efforts six months ago and founded the nonprofit which has four board members including Siler, director; Nancy Forester, vice director; Chuck Pohlmann, adviser relations; and Mike Matthews, treasurer.
Siler came to Navarre with his wife and kids in tow by way of the Air Force. Now, he’s transitioning into the Reserves and said he wants to preserve Navarre’s unique quality of a small-town feeling and tourist destination. ....

The group behind the latest push is a registered nonprofit called Preserve Navarre, spearheaded by Wes Siler.
For the third time in less than a decade, a group of south Santa Rosa County residents is moving forward with an incorporation effort to make Navarre its own city, with its own local government, taxing authority and civic identity.

Lynn Logan Slitzan, 67, was a loving wife and best friend to Bob for 40 years. She leaves behind her loving cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her dog, Haggis, whom she loved dearly.
Lynn was born in Queens, New York and lived there growing up. She was always interested in helping people and decided to attend Flushing Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated as an Registered Nurse. After graduating, she stayed with Flushing Hospital for over 40 years. While working as an RN, she went to night school and received her bachelorâs and masterâs degrees. Lynn went on to become a Nurse Practitioner and spent her last 15 years as an NP in womenâs health before she retired. ....
