Sycamore student dead after being hit by a vehicle, school officials say A Sycamore High School junior is dead after being hit by a vehicle Monday afternoon, school officials said. Ryland Riley Betz, 17, was struck at approximately 3:30 p.m. near the corner of Reed Hartman Highway and Cornell Road, police said. The victim was not in a crosswalk when she was struck, police said. Alcohol and/or drugs are not considered factors in the accident. Police said the driver of the vehicle that struck the student stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. It happened around 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Reed Hartman Highway and Cornell Road.According to investigators, 17-year-old Riley Betz was struck by a vehicle. Betz was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation by the Blue Ash Police Department. Betz was a junior at Sycamore High School. Students were notified of Betz s death Tuesday afternoon. School officials released a statement Tuesday afternoon, which reads: The Sycamore Family has suffered a tremendous loss. We want to extend our deepest sympathies to the Betz family and to Riley’s classmates and friends.
