Sycamore student dead after being hit by a vehicle, school officials say
A Sycamore High School junior is dead after being hit by a vehicle Monday afternoon, school officials said.
Ryland Riley  Betz, 17, was struck at approximately 3:30 p.m. near the corner of Reed Hartman Highway and Cornell Road, police said.
The victim was not in a crosswalk when she was struck, police said. Alcohol and/or drugs are not considered factors in the accident.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that struck the student stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
