SAN FRANCISCO Twitter doesn’t want its executives to come back to the office, at least not full time.
Neither does Slack, which makes workplace-collaboration tools. Both companies are letting employees work partially or fully remotely after the pandemic and want to make sure everyone adheres to the new policies to create equality.
Amazon, on the other hand, believes the best way to keep its foothold as a leading tech giant is by bringing everyone back to an “office-centric culture,” as soon as it’s safely possible. In between are companies such as Google and Apple, which are allowing two work-from-home days every week. ....

Femme It Forward Opens Applications For Next Gem Femme Mentorship Program


 
Femme It Forward, a female-led music and entertainment company, announced today that applications are now open for the Next Gem Femme Mentorship Program. The new initiative designed to empower and increase opportunities for young women of color in the workforce will pair promising talent with female industry titans and entrepreneurs in the music, media, entertainment, technology, and social justice industries.
Through a comprehensive year-long program, mentees will receive exposure to real-time projects, one-on-one coaching, resume building lessons, industry insights and expertise, and relationship building opportunities. The inaugural program will include 200 mentees who are young women of color, with at least half of those participants being current students or alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s). ....

Over half (56%) of UK businesses have improved their work culture to focus on wellbeing and flexibility since the start of the pandemic.
In order to help uphold workplace culture as lockdown ends, employers are offering more flexibility, and improving wellbeing programmes according to new research by messaging service Slack.
A company that focuses on wellbeing has also become more important to employees looking for new roles. 
A quarter (25%) of UK workers said they are more attracted to companies that actively fight burnout by being proactive about the mental health and wellness of their people. ....

J. Crew elevates Madewell execs to tackle marketing, digital

Nearly a year after filing for bankruptcy, J. Crew on Thursday appointed four execs to its senior management team to bolster its digital, culture, sustainability and marketing initiatives at its brands. J. Crew did not mention when they will officially assume responsibilities in a company press release on the appointments.  
Most of the roles involve broadening the responsibilities of Madewell execs to include J. Crew as well. Derek Yarbrough, Madewell s chief marketing officer, will be chief marketing officer of both Madewell and J. Crew, where he will be in charge of marketing, e-commerce and creative initiatives. Danielle Schmelkin, Madewell s chief information officer, will be the chief information officer of the entire company, where she will lead the company s digital transformation through data insights, and improve connectedness and interactivity with shoppers. ....
