March 15,2021 Gladys Jackson (Formo) journey began on February 12th, 1929 in Naicam Saskatchewan born on the Family Farm. She was the fififth child to Olaus and Esther Formo. She was raised with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Gladys was married December 12th,1953 in Smithers BC to her one and only. They moved to Merritt having 5 children that were her everything and cherished dearly. She spent her working years in Kamloops in the restaurant industry, she then moved to Kelowna for many years. Her fifinal years were spent in Merritt with her Children. Gladys excelled academically at Brightside school in Saskatchewan participating regularly in sports throughout her school years. After settling in BC she enjoyed taking many trips back to Saskatchewan to visit her family. Some of moms favourite pastimes were singing, crocheting, drawing, dancing and having her nails painted. She loved her regular Wednesday dinners with family bringing so much joy to the table and FaceTime visits with us ....

Melfort’s Pat Rumberger has spent countless hours as a volunteer in the region over the years and finds it difficult to narrow down everything she has given her time to. “People who volunteer don’t do it for recognition but to improve life in their community for others and make it a place for people to want to live in,” Rumberger said. In recent years, she focuses on volunteering for the North East SPCA, which she said is near and dear to her heart. ....

On a monthly basis, members place their order from different box choices that include fresh fruit and vegetables. Nearly every small town in Saskatchewan has a hockey rink and kids who dream of the big league. Some of them are extremely talented and some not so much, but every one of them can benefit from high-quality hockey skills training and leadership development. It’s not as if the realities of small town hockey programs is ‘somebodies’ fault, it is simply a sad result of shrinking populations distant from urban centres. As Saskatchewan becomes more and more urbanized, small towns suffer, and the opportunities become fewer. However out of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy of 2018, a Foundation arose to try and address that. ....
