JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Former Jacksonville Sheriff Nathaniel “Nat” Glover will be inducted on Saturday into the Florida Law Enforcement Officers’ Hall of Fame.
Glover, 78, a law enforcement veteran with decades of experience, rose through the ranks of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was elected Florida’s first Black sheriff since the Reconstruction era in 1995.
Glover told News4Jax a little run-in with the law when he was growing up in Jacksonville shaped his future as a cop. ....

Judge to weigh lawsuit on Florida’s unemployment compensation problems
Nearly a year after the COVID-19 pandemic began tossing people out of work, a circuit judge is again poised to consider a potential class-action lawsuit stemming from major problems in Florida’s unemployment compensation system. Leon County Circuit Judge John Cooper is scheduled Tuesday to hear arguments about whether he should dismiss the lawsuit filed against the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and Deloitte Consulting, LLP, a contractor that helped put the state’s CONNECT online unemployment system in place in 2013. JACKSONVILLE, Fla Nathaniel Nat Glover, former Jacksonville sheriff and president of Edward Waters College, will receive the top honor at the 2021 OneJax Humanitarian Awards.
At an April 15 virtual ceremony, Glover will receive the Gold Medallion for Lifetime Achievement from OneJax, a nonprofit interfaith organization that promotes racial, religious and cultural tolerance in Northeast Florida.

A Silver Medallion Award will be presented to Martin Goetz, CEO of River Garden Senior Services.
