Washington [US], April 23 (ANI): Students who have been exposed to interpersonal trauma physical assault, sexual assault or unwanted sexual experiences prior to college are more likely to engage in risky alcohol use. But romantic relationships mitigate these effects of trauma on a student s drinking behaviour, according to a new study.
The study titled, A Longitudinal Study of the Moderating Effects of Romantic Relationships on the Associations Between Alcohol Use and Trauma in College Students , will be published in a forthcoming issue of the journal Addiction . ....

Students who have been exposed to interpersonal trauma physical assault, sexual assault or unwanted sexual experiences prior to college are more likely to engage in risky alcohol use. But romantic relationships mitigate these effects of trauma on a student’s drinking behavior, according to a new study led by Virginia Commonwealth University researchers.
The study investigates whether romantic relationships might play a role in mitigating or exacerbating the effects of trauma exposure on alcohol use among college students. It found that students who experienced interpersonal trauma during college consumed more alcohol than those without interpersonal trauma exposure, and that their drinking was more pronounced for those in a relationship with a partner with higher levels of alcohol use. It also found that a student’s satisfaction in their romantic relationship did not change the association between interpersonal trauma and alcohol use. ....

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Just after midnight Saturday night, patrol officers with Valdosta Police Department (VPD) responded to the 2500 block of Orlando Drive, responding to a call to police about a man breaking into a vehicle.
The victim followed the man and pointed officers in the direction he went, and VPD soon caught Nathaniel Thomas, 18, according to police.
The homeowner told police his security system notified him that someone was on his property. He then checked and found someone had entered one of his vehicles. At that point, the victim called 911 and attempted to run after Thomas, according to VPD. ....

Fredericton skate park opens after nearly 2 decades of planning

The city still plans to put a fence along the park. There will be more landscaping. There is a grand opening planned for the spring, depending on COVID-19 restrictions.
Mann was a kid 19 years ago, he started a bottle drive with the hopes of raising enough money to build a skate park. Mann said there s been countless fundraisers since then to try and raise enough money.
As he got older, he started lobbying city council to build the park. As time went on he started to think it might not happen, but he regained hope after the last municipal election. ....
