Local Chef Bill Bird will present Chef in My Kitchen via Zoom platform Staff Report The Cambridge Rotary Club is accepting reservations for a virtual cooking class from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 14 featuring local Chef Bill Bird. Proceeds from The Chef in My Kitchen with Bird that will be presented on the Zoom platform will benefit the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. The need is great, said Rotary President Larry Parnell. Food insecurity has increased by over 30% in the last 12 months. And the food bank tells us that even when COVID is under control, it will take 18 to 24 months to get back to pre-COVID numbers. ....
Business the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic has never been better, Oiler said. People are eating at home, and they re buying so much more meat and they re learning how to cook, she said. She said she s processed more than 1,000 deer this year, up 30% from past years. And much of that is helping to feed the hungry. Oiler is a supporter of Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, a collective of meat suppliers who provide some of their bounty to food banks, ministries and charities. Metro Parks, a longtime partner, last year donated 280 deer culled in its parks for Oiler to process and distribute to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.. ....

The Shadyside Council of Churchâs new food pantry home is a garage in the church parking lot. The pantry is open for drive-through service the third Thursday of each month. SHADYSIDE For those in need, the Shadyside Food Pantry is operating a drive-through food distribution to help people stay safe from COVID-19. Nancy Moore, treasurer of the Shadyside Council of Churches that runs the pantry, said people can drive through the Lincoln Avenue Methodist Church parking lot up to its block garage, which is now operating as the food pantry headquarters. The church is located at 3838 Lincoln Ave. ....
