July 26, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The main opposition parties, PML-N and PPP, Sunday expressed serious reservations over the election results in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and accused the PTI-led government of systematic rigging in the election for the Legislative Assembly. Two people were killed due to clashes between political activists and several others were injured. However, AJK Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Rasheed Sulheria told the media during a polling station visit that polling remained peaceful at 99 percent polling stations, as he had been receiving reports. Some minor incidents of violence and stoppage of polling were reported to him at a few polling stations and he was taking cognizance of them and due process of law would be applied to ensure transparency of polling, he promised. ....
Ghani challenges NAB to arrest him July 4, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani challenged the NAB officials to arrest him and said that he would go to the NAB office on Monday with two pairs of clothes. “If the NAB arrests him, he will not apply for bail and will go to the NAB office with two or three pair of clothes,” he said while addressing a press conference here on Saturday at Sindh House along with PPP media coordinator Nazir Dhoki. Saeed Ghani asked what kind of magic Haleem Adil Sheikh has that NAB gets annoyed when he will mention his name. “Why NAB does not act against the people involved in the biggest wheat scandal, sugar scandal and medicine scandals in the country,” he asked. ....
PPP accuses govt of stealing Azad Kashmir polls July 3, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party on Friday accused the government of stealing the elections in Azad Kashmir and said it will not allow the government to rob the mandate of the people of Azad Kashmir. “We will not allow hijacking Kashmir elections like the 2018 elections. The Gilgit-Baltistan elections were also robbed,” said PPP Deputy Central Secretary Information Senator Palwasha Khan, Senator Rubina Khalid and MNA Naz Baloch while addressing a press conference here on Friday. PPP Chief Media Coordinator Nazir Dhoki was also present. Palwasha Khan said that in 22 years, the PTI did not field even 22 candidates in Kashmir. “The prime minister had announced protest on Friday but where the protests are taking place,” she asked. She said the PPP will neither allow rolling back the nuclear programme nor will it allow any kind of deal on Kashmir. ....
