ISLAMABAD: The country’s major opposition parties have expressed concerns over the statement of Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding the future status of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and asked him for an explanation to parliament over his remarks.
The reaction came from leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Saturday, a day after the prime minister while addressing two election rallies in the towns of Tarar Khal and Kotli in AJK on Friday reiterated an earlier commitment to the Kashmiris and assured them that Islamabad would grant them the right to live as an independent nation if they decided to do so even after acceding to Pakistan through the United Nations-sponsored plebiscite.

People of Karachi are denied the liberty to enjoy sand and surf as the new wave of Covi-19 surges in the city.
In view of the spike in coronavirus cases again, all the routes leading to the popular Sea View Beach have been closed.
Officials of Darakshan and Sahil police stations have erected barriers, road blocks on all roads leading to Sea View, Do Darya and nearby picnic points.
According to police, action was taken in line with the directives issued by the Sindh Home Department. Officials affirmed that action will be taken against people violating the new curbs announced by the government to control the further spread of novel coronavirus disease.

ISLAMABAD: Sindh Agriculture Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahu said on Friday that crops in the province had been damaged due to the shortage of water and demanded a judicial inquiry into the reduced supply of water to Sindh.
Speaking at a news conference at Sindh House, Islamabad, Mr Rahu said that Prime Minister Imran Khan remained silent over the great injustice being done to the province.

A sitting Sindh minister demanded on Friday a judicial inquiry into the provision of less water to the province than its allotted quota by the Indus River System Authority (Irsa), which led to water shortage there.
Provincial Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahu, while Addressing a press conference at Sindh House in Islamabad, held the federal government responsible for committing for “such a great injustice to Sindh” and for the “destruction of the agriculture” in the province.
“A judicial inquiry should be held into the issue of provision of less water to Sindh. Water is not being released to Sindh even for the early kharif season,” Rahu told reporters. “It’s a great injustice to Sindh but the prime minister is silent,” he added.
