Columbus man charged with attempted murder in Buckeye Lake stabbing View Comments BUCKEYE LAKE - A Columbus man was charged with attempted murder on Monday after he allegedly stabbed a woman in Buckeye Lake. Bryan M. Mackey, 33, of Columbus, was charged with one count of attempted murder, a first-degree felony, in Licking County Common Pleas Court on Monday. According to a criminal complaint, Buckeye Lake police responded to the first block of Myers Avenue in Buckeye Lake on Friday for a reported stabbing. On scene, police said they made contact with the victim, who they said was covered in blood, and two young children. ....
Pickerington man gets 13 years in prison for Pataskala area home invasion NEWARK - A Pickerington man was sentenced to 13 years in prison for his role in a Pataskala area home invasion that turned into a police chase earlier this year. Joseph T. Powell Jr., 32, of Pickerington, pleaded guilty to one count each aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; kidnapping, a first-degree felony; failure to comply with order or signal of police officer, a third-degree felony; and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, in Licking County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday. According to Assistant Licking County Prosecutor Cliff Murphy, the Licking County Sheriff s Office was called to a home on Ford Avenue around 9:49 p.m. Feb. 23 for a reported home invasion. While the agency was en route, Murphy said dispatch advised the suspects had robbed the victims with firearms and bullet proof vests before fleeing in a white van. ....
Granville police disperse anti-mask advocates during Saturday event Newark Advocate Granville Police were called to two locations in the Village on Saturday. They dispersed small groups of anti-mask protestors who came to town with the stated intent to support two Granville area businesses that invite patrons to remove facial coverings within their shops. A group identifying itself as “Moms Against DeWine” came to Granville to show support for Knucklehead’s Burgers and Ice Cream, 470 S. Main St., and for Prospect Street Smoothie, located at 134 N. Prospect St. in downtown Granville. The group also announced on Facebook it would be demonstrating outside the Granville area home of a Gov. Mike DeWine-appointed state health official. ....
