The Arizona aviation services company expected to create a hundred jobs here by 2022 is making its first – albeit, modest – entry to the Roswell Air Center by leasing a building for storage.

David Querio, president of Ascent Aviation Services Corp., said that the lease price for Building 100 at the Air Center makes sense for his company.
“The building was immediately available and priced at a price point where we could afford to rent it significantly in advance of its actual need to ensure that it was still available when we actually needed it,” Querio said. ....

City Council approves $1 million in COVID relief to businesses, nonprofits


The Grand Junction City Council voted at its Wednesday meeting to appropriate $1 million in grant funding to help local small businesses and nonprofits that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The $1 million, plus administration fees, will be split into three programs, Finance Director Jodi Welch said. Two programs will be similar to COVID-19 relief programs the City Council authorized in 2020. One will provide $500,000 in assistance to small businesses and be administered by the Business Incubator. The other will provide $250,000 for nonprofits that are focused on hunger relief and be administered by the Western Colorado Community Foundation (WCCF).
Much of the discussion was regarding the third program, which is a new proposal. It will likely go to support operations for nonprofits more generally. However, Council Member Anna Stout said the criteria for what nonprofits would be eligible and how the program will be administered is still under discussion. Stout ha ....

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) The Bend Park & Recreation board met Tuesday night for an agenda that included discussing and prioritizing a long list of proposed river habitat restoration and access point upgrades.
The board looked at 16 Bend parks on the Deschutes River to best determine possible improvements.
The park district used a focus group consisting of 14 organizations across Central Oregon to help guide development plans.
The district and the focus group have identified a project draft list classified as high, medium, and low priorities.

The Huntington Beach City Council on Thursday night unanimously voted to support the Community Choice Energy model and become one of the founding members of the Orange County Joint Powers Authority.
In a special meeting, the council voted 5-0 to move into Community Choice Energy. Mayor Pro Tem Tito Ortiz and City Councilman Erik Peterson were absent.
The City Council’s vote would establish Huntington Beach as another proponent of the CCE program that is already being championed by Irvine and Fullerton, and would be funded initially by Irvine. ....
