Funding Supports Community Tree Projects to Protect Natural Resources, Air and Water Quality
26 Additional Projects Awarded Grants; Total of $2.6 million for 64 Projects Statewide
In celebration of Arbor Day, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos today announced that grants totaling $1.18 million have been awarded to communities across the state to inventory, plant, and maintain public trees. The grants are part of the second phase of grants through DEC s Division of Lands and Forests Urban and Community Forestry Program, which works to increase public awareness of the importance of trees and help communities develop and implement comprehensive tree management plans to create healthy forests while enhancing quality of life. ....

COLONIE The Times Union is putting just under 53 acres of land adjacent to the newspaper’s office and printing plant on the market for $8,250,000.
Dubbed Times Union Land, the offering, which divides the acreage into three main sites, is listed by CBRE and has just been placed on the company’s Deal Flow website, which lists commercial properties for sale around the nation.

The city Planning Board voted 4-0 Tuesday night to approve a site plan for a $6 million, 6,400 square foot Hoffman Car Wash to be built on a 2 acre subdivision of 342 S. Kingsboro Ave., near the location of the former Traver’s Diner.
The subdivision of 342 S. Kingsboro Ave. creates one 2.04 acre lot for the car wash and a 1.52 acre lot around the Traver’s Diner building. Both parcels are owned by Hoffman Development Corp. CEO Tom Hoffman Jr.
Hoffman said construction of the new car wash probably won’t begin until the spring of 2022. ....

Construction complete on rehabilitation of State Route 7 and Collar City Bridge

TROY, N.Y. â Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently announced that major construction has been completed on a project that rehabilitated the Collar City Bridge and a stretch of State Route 7 from the City of Troy to the Town of Colonie, enhancing safety and easing travel along a vital corridor for the flow of commuters, visitors and commerce in the Capital Region.
The Collar City Bridge, carries more than 56,000 vehicles daily between multiple counties.
Even as we fight this pandemic, New York is continuing to complete vital infrastructure projects that are critical to the continued health and economic viability of our communities, Cuomo said. ....
