Eighteen members of the ULFA, 32 of the United People s Revolutionary Front, 13 of the Dimasa National Liberation Army and one of the People s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK) surrendered at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, a cultural institution, as reported by news agency PTI. ....

Guwahati, Dec 21 (IANS): In a significant development ahead of the next year s assembly polls, 64 militants belonging to four terrorist outfits on Monday formally laid down their arms before Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
The terrorists, led by banned United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) self-styled Deputy Commander-in-Chief Drishti Rajkhowa, self-styled Lt Col. Montu Saikia, self-styled Lt Col. Sagar Topno formally surrendered in a ceremony at the famous Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
The 64 terrorists, including 18 ULFA (I), 32 United People s Revolutionary Front and 13 Dimasa National Liberation Army and one belomnging to the People s Democratic Front of Bodoland deposited 14 AK series rifles, one M-20 semi-automatic rifle, 15 pistols, two 9-mm Carbine many other improvised guns and a large quantities of ammunition. ....

GUWAHATI: Sixty-four militants laid down weapons before Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday.
The militants include 18 from the Paresh Baruah faction of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), 32 from the United People s Revolutionary Front (UPRF), 13 from the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLF) and one from the People s Democratic Council of Karbi-Longri (PDCK). ....

Guwahati, Dec 21 : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday appealed the terrorists to shun the path of violence and join the peace and progress undertaken by the government.
The Chief Minister, while addressing a function where 64 militants of four insurgent outfits surrendered, said the government is giving importance to the surrendered militants and has taken steps so that the youths who have decided to come to the mainstream can take the benefits of the government schemes. ....
