Nine area locations participating April 24 in Drug Take-Back Day

MIDCOAST Ahead of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 24 the locations of the Maine collection sites have been announced. 
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. In 2020, the collection sites began accepting vaping devices and associated substances.
At a previous Take-Back Event in October 2020, federal, state, and local government entities took back more than 985,000 pounds of unused, expired, or unwanted drugs at more than 4,500 locations across the United States. Over the course of the program, more than 14.6 million pounds of prescription drugs have been safely collected across the country, including more than 450,000 pounds of medication in Maine alone. ....

THOMASTON, Ga. - Police said a man linked to a deadly December 2020 home invasion is in police custody after he was arrested on unrelated charges. 
The Thomaston Police Department said Jakari Daniel, also known as Byrd,  was arrested on Saturday night in McIntosh County for multiple drug and weapon charges, separate from his alleged involvement in a Thomaston homicide.
Officials said police will move Daniel to the Upson County Sheriff s Office jail.
Thomaston police had arrested one other suspect, 19-year-old Jordan Jones. His charges include felony murder. ....

Man wanted for Thomaston homicide arrested in McIntosh County for unrelated charges

THOMASTON, Ga. A man wanted for murder in Thomaston was arrested in McIntosh County Saturday night for unrelated multiple drug and weapon charges.
According to a Facebook post from the Thomaston Police Department, Jakari Daniel, aka Byrd , was wanted for the December 1, 2020 homicide of Michael Gates.
This happened at 121 Wellington Drive in Thomaston. 
Daniel will remain in custody until transported to the Upson County Sheriff s Office jail at a date to be determined, according to the post.
