Roger Edgar Libby.
PORT CLYDE Roger Edgar Libby, 88, died peacefully, following a period of declining health, Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Sussman Hospice House in Rockport.
Born in Thomaston, he was the son of Edgar and Dorothy Cramer Libby. He was educated locally, graduating from Thomaston High School in 1951.
Following high school Roger entered the U.S. Navy serving in the Mediterranean Sea on an Air Craft Carrier during the Korean War. Returning to the States, he married Betty Kobs on June 13, 1954.
Roger spent much of his career as a truck driver. Starting as a “milk man,” he worked his way up, eventually driving for Martin Marietta Corporation for many years before retiring. ....

Sylvia M. Harjula, obituary

THOMASTON Sylvia M. Harjula, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, following a brief illness.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, June 29, 1934, she was the daughter of Arthur E. And Laura M. (Aalto) Harjula. She began school in Quincy and after moving to Thomaston with her family in 1949, graduated from
Thomaston High School with the class of 1952. She later attended Elim Bible Institute in Lima, New York.
Throughout her working career, she served as a Personal Care Provider.
For many years, Sylvia was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockland. She later attended the Finnish Congregational Church in South Thomaston, where for more than eight years she served as pianist. Sylvia was pleased in earlier years, to host a Saturday Bible Club in her home, inviting neighborhood children to hear Bible stories. ....
