Snowshoe
every Saturday and Sunday through March
with a free snowshoe rental included with any tour. The terrain at Glensheen is mostly flat which makes it a great place for beginners. Guests can explore areas they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to experience. or didn’t even realize existed at Glensheen. You can snowshoe through a wooded area at the front of the mansion and venture under the Stone Arch Bridge. If safe ice conditions, you can walk across the frozen Tischer Creek and under the famous Stone Arch Bridge. To enhance the grounds exploration experience, there is educational signage across the estate making a snowshoe rental an added perk to a mansion tour. A variety of types and sizes, including kid sizes, are available for use. Tours are only available for purchase onsite at Glensheen. Go to glensheen.org.
Starting Plants from Seed
Have the winter blahs set in at your house?
The warm weather before Christmas and now the post-holiday blahs have me wanting to starts some seeds indoors. I will just have to find a way to get rid of my winter blahs by perusing the seed catalogs and starting some plants from seeds.
The first step is to determine what you want to grow and then purchase some recommended, quality seeds. If you aren’t sure what to purchase, you can check out K-State Research and Extension’s list of recommended varieties on our website at www.ford.ksu.edu and click on the Horticulture tab on the left hand side of the page.
