City of Vandalia will have 3 contested races in the April Consolidated Election

The City of Vandalia will have 3 contested races in the April Consolidated Election. In the final day of filing on Monday, Ward 4 Alderman Andy Lester filed his petition to run for re-election.  Lester is being challenged for his seat by Jeremy Curll. As for the other open aldermen seats, in Ward 1 Steve Barker has filed to run for another term and is unopposed.  In Ward 2, Dorothy Crawford did not file to run for another term, Kenny Lewey filed to run for Ward 2 alderman and is unopposed.  And, in Ward 3, longtime alderman Mike Hobler filed to run for another term and is unopposed.

Filings on Day One for the City of Vandalia

The City of Vandalia will have at least 2 contested races in the April 6th Consolidated Election. On Monday at the beginning of filing at 8:30 am, Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman filed his paperwork to run for a 6th term in office.  Alex Sasse also filed his petition, so Gottman will run against Sasse for Mayor in the April Election. Also on Monday at 8:30 am, Kara Metzger, Barri Forehand, Cinde Carroll and Carla Huhn all filed their petitions to run for City Clerk.  All 4 are vying to replace Clerk Peggy Bowen, who is not running for re-election. Also filing at 8:30 on Monday morning was Jeremy Curll for Ward 4 Alderman.  Andy Lester has picked up a petition to run for another term in Ward 4 but did not file his paperwork on Monday.

/ Vandalia Radio Dec 10, 2020 5:26 AM Candidates running in the April 6th Consolidated Election can begin filing their paperwork on Monday morning.  During Monday’s Vandalia City Council meeting, City Clerk Peggy Bowen says the filing will look a little different this year due to the pandemic.   As for those that have picked up petitions for City of Vandalia races Four individuals Barri Forehand, Kara Metzger, Cinde Carroll and Carla Huhn have picked up petitions to run for City Clerk.  It will be an open seat as Peggy Bowen announced she will not be seeking another term. For Mayor, Rick Gottman has picked up his petition to run for another term and Alex Sasse has also picked up a petition to run for Mayor.
