TELS and Toppers to continue - AG TELS and Toppers to continue - AG Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has reassured people that despite the situation the country is facing with the current COVID-19 outbreak, programmes that are important to youths, such as the Tertiary Education Loan Scheme and Toppers initiatives, would continue. 16,661 students are currently studying under the TELS program while 2,525 students are studying under the National Toppers Scheme. In the 2020-2021 National Budget, the Government allocated $35.5 million for the Toppers Scheme while $161.1 million was set aside for the TELS program. ....
04 Jul 2021 - 8:51 The Peninsula Doha: Science India Forum -Qatar (SIF-Q) has announced “Shastra Pratibhas” (Genius in Science) selected through level 2 of Shastra Pratibha Contest at Qatar State Level camp and National Toppers from level 3 of Shastra Pratibha Contest held at National Level Camp held in India. Due to the pandemic this year, SIF-Q conducted Shastra Pratibha Contest (SPC-2020-21) online. The contest was held in two levels before the selected students were nominated to participate in the National Level Camp. SPC level 1 saw participation of over 1,500 students from Indian schools all over Qatar. SPC level 1 was the first online open book contest held on December 30, 2020. A total of 120 students were selected to participate in the Shastra Pratibha level 2 State Level Camp. ....

Jan 29, 2021 06:33:07 PM Students under the National Topper s Scholarship who were suspended by the Tertiary Scholarship Loans Board (TSLB) following a review last year will have their scholarships reinstated. Attorney General and Civil Service Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum announced in a press conference this evening. Sayed-Khaiyum said the board was asked to review what was clearly an arbitrary decision to suspend certain toppers from the scholarship programme. He said the government was not consulted nor did they approve for the board to raise the grade point average for toppers scholarship. He said the TSLB management treated these scholarship students like they were in day care. ....
