Filming of The Railway Children half a century ago | Bradford Telegraph and Argus


MORE than 50 years after they captured our hearts, The Railway Children are back.
A sequel to the much-loved 1970 film is currently being shot on and around the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, with locations including Oakworth Station and the Bronte Parsonage.
The Railway Children Return, about a group of children evacuated to a Yorkshire village who meet a young soldier also far from home, stars Jenny Agutter, who played Bobby in the original film, Sir Tom Courtenay and Sheridan Smith.
Here we look back at the 1970 film, and visits from some of its stars over the years.

MOVIE fans across the world will mark Star Wars Day in style today to show their appreciation for the sci-fi franchise.
Star Wars Day is celebrated on May 4 each year, with pun-making fans declaring “May the fourth be with you” in homage to the film series’ classic Jedi phrase. The annual commemoration began in 2011 in a galaxy far, far away.
The nine-film-strong franchise, which began in 1977, has always been popular in Bradford.
