DHAKA, April 3, 2021 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today greeted directors, producers, distributors, artistes and others of film arena marking the National Film Day.
The minister greeted all who are related with film industry from his official residence in city’s Mintu Road.
He said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, realizing the impact of films on society, tabled a bill in the provincial assembly of erstwhile East Pakistan for the formation of Film Development Corporation (FDC) in 1957 and in continuation to that the FDC was established.
Hasan said a number of timeless cinemas were made and artistes were born through the FDC and the movies had played a role in building the movement of independence, struggle of freedom and building post-independent Bangladesh. ....

Govt to build modern Cineplexes countrywide: Murad

Hasan MP today said the incumbent government led by Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina has taken initiative to build information complexes
along with the Cineplex across the country.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has not only declared the film sector
as an industry, but also has taken a pragmatic step to modernize the
sector … The government will construct information building along
with the modern Cineplex countrywide,” he said.
The state minister was speaking at a programme on “Exhibition and
Discussion on the Liberation War based film ‘A Great Father’ ”
organized by Bangamata Sangskritik Jote at Bangladesh Film Archive ....
