Sultan to FG: Tell us where recovered loots are

The Sultan, represented by the Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, said keeping mute on the recovered loots would spell doom for the fight against corruption in the country.
“The government owes Nigerians an explanation, we want to know how much billions of naira was recovered from our past leaders. Where the monies are and what are they doing with them?
“This explanation is necessary considering the state of our education and other infrastructure like roads which need serious government attention,” he said
He said the founders of the Sokoto Caliphate had written many books on corruption and how it could be addressed using Islamic ways. ....

Health minister: "We clearly see impact of vaccine protection" - Delano

After a vaccination strategy, deconfinement and weeks of rest, health minister Paulette Lenert (LSAP) returned to the covid-19 situation in Luxembourg during an interview with Paperjam, Delano’s sister outfit. Here’s part one of five.
In this first part, we look at the vaccination strategy, particularly the choice to vaccinate vulnerable people as a priority: is this bearing fruit?
The vaccination campaign started at the end of December 2020. Is Luxembourg s strategy paying off?
Paulette Lenert: Yes, more than ever: we can finally clearly see the impact of vaccine protection on the elderly. Infections are clearly declining in these age groups. This is what we were looking for, starting with the most vulnerable and the oldest. ....

Nigeria and Her People: Media Assassins

COUNTERPOINT BY Femi Akintunde-Johnson
Urged by the seeming deterioration of almost every facet of our national lives, we managed to squeeze in two elements last time…well, more like one and a half. We believe our public service, to some extent, is a big cog in our forward motion as a nation, and the seventh element is our scant regard for ethical conduct, and a dubious reliance on cronyism, cash-driven emotional attachment to oddity and roguery.
This is how we introduced it: “The seventh element has a number of similarities to the one above. What do we hold as National Ethos? What Values do we deliberately infuse in our children? What informs our Succession dynamics? A nation that runs on auto-pilot, winging its ways through challenges and upheavals, makes an easy candidate for self-combustion.” ....

Nigeria and Her People: Ethical Summersaults

COUNTERPOINT Femi Akintunde-Johnson
We are told that God Almighty finished the creation spectacle on the sixth day when He finished with the specimen we call man today. I’m afraid we don’t have the knack for such exactitude, nor the opportunity to recline, and watch the mess we have turned the Nigerian creation debacle to. Today, we’ll attempt to exhaust our frustrations on the sixth element we must deal with to emerge as, and maintain a great nation, with people of like visions and goals.
When we lament about our atrocious and conscienceless politics, we often forget that it’s senior comrade is amorphous, systemic and thus infinitely more dangerous to public health; therefore more difficult to pull down. Public Service. And by extension, Infrastructure (provision, maintenance and assault). I will explain. ....
