Hawks Open Postseason in Knoxville

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys golf team begins the postseason tournament Friday when they travel to Pine Knolls Country Club in Knoxville for a class 3A sectional. The Golden Hawks enter play ranked No. 30 in class 3A with a 385 average per 18 holes. Mid-Prairie is led individually in 18 hole meets this season by Dominic McCain with his average of 82. Other schools joining the Hawks in Knoxville include Albia and their 336 18 hole average led by Landen Simpson with an 86 average, Centerville with their 395 average led by John White at 93, No. 17 Grinnell with their 349 average led by Cole McGriff at 78, No. 9 Knoxville and their 339 average led by Evan Smith at 74, No. 14 Oskaloosa and their 348 average led by Carter Parks at 86, South Tama and their 370 average led by Brayden Smith at 86 and Williamsburg with a 359 average led by Crew Klingner at 85. Action continues all day Friday in Knoxville.

Allison Graham/File Photo South Tama will be looking for a new head girls basketball coach for the 2021-22 season. Todd Dale submitted a resignation letter to the board which was approved at Monday’s school board meeting. In the letter to the board Dale stated he had quit coach basketball in 2011 because he lost the love of the sport and coaching. He returned in 2016 because South Tama was in need of a girls coach.

Twin Cedars Girls Hopeful For A BGC Title On Tuesday

Twin Cedars is going to the Bluegrass Conference Track and Field Meet on Tuesday. The girls, while not being one of the favorites for the team title, are confident that they can contend along with several individual titles. Coach Cam Parker tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is spotlighting a number of events for conference titles this season. Parker: “I think we’ll have a very good chance to compete for our conference championship. For the first time in our last meet at South Tama, I put every girl in four events, and we beat teams like South Tama and Saydel, and competed very well.”
