NEK native becomes third woman promoted to captain in the VSP


NEWPORT The Vermont State Police recently announced that Teresa Randall, a native of West Burke, has become the third woman to be promoted to captain.
Capt. Randall’s promotion to captain/Staff Operations Commander, was effective May 9, 2021.
She succeeds Kevin Lane, who was promoted to major/Support Services Division Commander earlier this spring.
Capt. Randall has served the people of Vermont for more than 18 years.
She began her state police career in 2003 and was assigned as a trooper to the St. Johnsbury Barracks following her graduation from the Vermont Police Academy.
She transferred to the position of detective trooper with the Narcotics Investigation Unit in 2008 and served until 2011 when she joined the Executive Protection Unit. ....

Ms Randall also spoke about the impact of the pandemic on the practice.
It s really difficult because all the staff have worked throughout Covid. People are not having their annual leave.
She said the team of 55 staff, including nurses, GPs, dispensers, cleaners, receptionists and managers, has been working round the clock .
It s not been easy. I have been a practice manager for 12 years. This is the worst I ve ever known it.
It is a logistical nightmare, it s hard work, but we just keep going, it s all we can do.
On the whole, morale has been good. We talk to each other daily, we support each other. If someone is feeling down, we scoop them up. ....
