JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Leah Miller Chapin, of Johnson City, TN passed away on May 25, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center at the age of 81. Leah was born and raised in Kingsport, TN. She had a creative spirit and a love for big city living. After living in Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., West Palm Beach and Wellington, Florida she eventually made her way back to East Tennessee to retire in Johnson City, TN. Leah graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1958 where she was a majorette. As a young adult, she had a deep love for horses and was an avid equestrian. She was a smart and driven young woman. In her early career days, she worked her way up to CEO of Adcom Paper and later made herself a successful career as a real estate agent in Johnson City, TN. ....
Classical Voice of North Carolina), Michael Delfín is a versatile performer of historical keyboard instruments and the modern piano. Michael is the recipient of the 2018 Historical Keyboard Society of North America Bechtel/Clinkscale Scholarship and 2017 Catacoustic Consort Early Music Grant. He has performed for the Historical Keyboard Society of North America and the Central California Baroque Festival and has given lectures on historical performance topics for Early Music America, HKSNA, and the Case Western Reserve University Music Department. He is artistic director of Seven Hills Baroque in Cincinnati and has taught figured bass and improvisation at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Michael has attended the American Bach Soloists Academy and the University of Michigan Early Keyboard Institute and performed in masterclasses for Richard Egarr, Joseph Gascho, Corey Jamason, Edward Parmentier, and Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra. ....
Richard Eppes was born Richard Eppes Cocke on May 2, 1824, in Prince George County. His father, Benjamin Cocke, managed the family estates that his wife, Mary Eppes Cocke, had inherited at Eppes Island, in Charles City County; Bermuda Hundred, in Chesterfield County; and City Point (later Hopewell), in Prince George County. Benjamin Cocke did not prove a successful planter, however, and he made a living through a blacksmith shop and shad fishing. When he died in 1836, the estates returned to Mary Cocke’s control, and their only surviving child became the sole heir. In accordance with his mother’s wishes to keep the surname Eppes associated with her family estates, Cocke legally changed his name to Richard Eppes on October 26, 1840. ....
