Norwood plans Special Town Meeting for zoning articles
Norwood is not quite done with Town Meetings yet.
During its May 11 meeting, Selectmen approved June 14 for a Special Town Meeting to deal with zoning proposals and any financial matters that need attention before June 30.
The warrant closed May 18; the board will meet May 20 to sign the warrant and discuss whether to adjust the quorum.
There may also be discussion on holding the Special TM indoors or outdoors.
The Planning Board will hold a public hearing on the Special TM zoning bylaws and map amendments for Route 1 rezoning on June 1 at 7 p.m. ....

Firefighters in Quincy, Massachusetts were among the first first responders in the state to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Hundreds of first responders in Massachusetts are expected to start receiving doses of the coronavirus vaccine Monday as part of the state’s phased rollout of the immunization.
Gov. Charlie Baker announced last week that more than 45,000 police officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel and other first responders in Massachusetts would be eligible for the first dose of the vaccine beginning Jan. 11. ....

Two town officials in Auburn appear to be at odds in their attitudes toward the coronavirus vaccine.
After the Auburn police chief stated last week he and roughly half the other officers in his department won’t get the vaccine, citing its speedy development and unknown long-term impact, the community’s town manager asserted his opinion is not representative of her administration as a whole.
In an interview with MassLive, Auburn’s 56-year-old police chief, Andrew J. Sluckis Jr., claimed, given his age and lack of any underlying health conditions, he would have more than a 99% chance of surviving COVID-19 were he to catch the viral respiratory infection. ....
