Even if the Champagne is temporarily on ice because of the pandemic, the store is planning a low-key celebration. It may not be in the most picturesque location on the Island, but Jollyes tucked-away location on River Way Industrial Estate, Newport, has, over the last quarter of a century, become the place pet and animal lovers flock to. Not only is it one of Jollyes’ top ten stores, it also holds the record for having the highest Pet Club membership of any of its 67 outlets across the UK. ....

Each year employees vote on which local charity to support through a number of fundraising activities. Usually a different good cause is selected, but Island Roads staff have again chosen to fundraise for Daisy Chains because planned charity events during 2020 have been so badly affected by Covid-19. The news has been welcomed by Daisy Chains, the Island based children’s charity which supports families affected by long-term sickness or disability. The charity’s main focus has become assisting with the travel needs for those requiring urgent and sometimes life-changing treatment at mainland hospitals. Kellie Lawrence, fundraising manager of Daisy Chains, said: During the past year (we have) continued to support many Island families with poorly children who needed to attend appointments on the mainland. ....

Recent grant recipients of the IW Foundation, and Chillerton Village Hall (bottom left) which funding will be used to improve. THE Isle of Wight Foundation has announced the latest recipients of its grant awards for 2020. The Foundation, made up of the partners in Highways PFI company Island Roads, has announced Chillerton and Gatcombe Community Association, the Newport-based Way Forward Programme, and Whippingham Community Association will share over £12,600 between them. The money will be used by each organisation to make their buildings more accessible. Each year, the foundation comprising Ringway Island Roads, Meridiam, VINCI UK Foundation and VINCI Concessions supports projects working to tackle social exclusion on the Island. ....
