the job and on the street this afternoon. the land line and cable workers are on strike after working without a contract since august. john rawlins is live outside of the offices at nine and race. reporter: obviously the strike continues here, the talks did not produce a resolution here, it s a rocky relationship for years. this is the second strike since 2011. the strikers work for the land line division of verizon, they currently have a wage and benefit package averaging $130,000 a year and offering a 6.5% pay hike and a 401(k) with a company match. the unions are not impressed. you can give us all the raises you want in the world but if you don t have a job it s nothing. the main thing is job security, they want guarantees that the jobs will stay local and are concerned that the job call jobs will move out of the region or overseas. what the company wants to do is sub-contract the work so they are in a call center environment sometimes out of the state and out of
