New Delhi, Feb 01: Lt. Gen. Chandi Prasad Mohanty has taken over as the new Vice Chief of the Indian Army.
He was commissioned into the Rajput Regiment in June 1982. He was serving as the General Officer, Commanding in chief of Southern Command. Two weeks back, he was appointed as the 42nd Vice Chief of Army Staff.

He is the first Odia officer to be appointed as the Vice Chief of the Army, second only to the Army Chief, General M M Naravane.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Liberation War victory, the Border Security Force (BSF) organised a wreath laying ceremony at the Liberation War Memorial at the Bharat-Bangladesh Maitri Uddyan Park, Chottakhola, in south Tripura.
