SEVIERVILLE — Each year Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries gives away coats to those in need.
They held this year’s annual giveaway at their 103 Joy St., Sevierville location, on Saturday, Dec. 12.
“We have been doing the coat drive since I think 2012. I bet this year we had probably 1,000 coats donated,” said Ryan Huskey, director of operations.
“We have been very fortunate.”
The giveaway was changed somewhat this year due to COVID-19, with volunteers checking people in outside and volunteers bringing coats out to waiting recipients.
“We had to kind of redo our layout because of COVID, but everything has kind of fallen into place as it normally does,” Huskey said. ....
