STEUBENVILLE Dwayne Richardson has been named as president of Trinity Health System’s Twin City Medical Center in Dennison, officials announced Thursday.
Richardson, a Philadelphia native, also will be responsible for the health system’s overall outpatient services in all outlying locations.
He will replace Teresa Gagliardi, who has served the ministry for nearly 50 years and most recently was vice president of hospital operations at the Dennison location.
“As our ministry continues to grow in our region, we felt the time was right to recruit an experienced leader to help facilitate that growth in Tuscarawas, Harrison and Belmont counties,” stated Matt Grimshaw, Trinty’s CEO. ....

DISCUSSION â The Jefferson County Commissioners met Thursday and among the discussions were the upcoming Black History Month, a draft solid waste plan and a need for more space at the health department.
STEUBENVILLE With February which is Black History Month approaching, the Jefferson County commissioners Thursday passed their annual proclamation to recognize the occasion.
Delores Wiggins, local civil rights activist, accepted the proclamation.
“I appreciate the commissioners so much,” Wiggins said. “I’m proud of what Steubenville has. Thank you so much.”
Commissioner Thomas Graham, who Wiggins noted was a friend, said that things have come a long way during his lifetime, but added there still is a long way to go. ....

Linda Harris - Registered Nurse Annie Ault was among Trinity Health System staffers who administered the Moderna vaccine Thursday at PrimeTime by appointment to more than 230 area residents. Day 2 of the vaccine clinic continues today, but all appointments have been filled.
STEUBENVILLE – Juanita Thorn plans to get the COVID-19 vaccine when her turn comes, but on Thursday she was at PrimeTime making sure her 80-something husband was protected.
“He’s 83, he has underlying conditions,” Thorn said. “If he would contract the coronavirus, that would be devastating – he has breathing issues already. I just want him protected as much as possible.” ....

STEUBENVILLE The Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times are looking for area residents who have been able to capture the spirit of our region in photographs.
They are doing that through the Scenes of the Ohio Valley Photo Contest.
Six winners each will have their photographs published in the newspapers and each will receive a $25 gift card from a business in the Ohio Valley.
“This contest offers a great way for our readers to get involved with the newspapers,” said John Hale, publisher of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times. “We want it to be a showcase of photographs taken by residents from across the region.” ....

COVID-19 vaccine rollout into next phase in Jefferson County | News, Sports, Jobs

STEUBENVILLE With an anticipated 900 more doses of COVID-19 vaccine on the way, the Jefferson County Health Department is making preparation to enter Phase 1B of the state’s vaccine distribution plan.
According to a press release issued by the health department Thursday, the next wave of doses is anticipated to arrive sometime next week.
The county had initially received 400 doses of vaccine last month and distributed it to health care workers and first responders under phase 1A.
Specific dates and locations, the release said, will be announced once the shipment’s receipt and total number of doses are confirmed. ....
