Apollo Hospitals procures millets from women farmers; makes it part of hospital diet February 20, 2021 ‘It’s time to procure local to live a healthier life’ Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad has initiated the use of millets in collaboration with over 5,000 women farmers working with Deccan Development Society. The healthcare group has already procured 4,000 kg of millets and will procure another 1,000 kg every month to support women farmers of Sangareddy district in Telangana. India’s Tata conglomerate plugs portfolio gap with acquisition of BFY cereals and snacks brand Soulfull products are popular among urban convenience-seeking and health-conscious Indian consumers. Pic: Soulfull Tata Consumer Products (TCP) has acquired Kottaram Agro Foods (KAF), the maker of the Soulfull brand of millet-based breakfast cereals and snacks. TCP has agreed to acquire 100% of the issued and paid-up equity share capital of KAF for Rs155.8 crore ($23.4m), according to a filing. The Tata Group has been actively unifying its food and beverage interests under TCP. The company’s product portfolio includes tea, coffee, water, salt, pulses, spices and RTC offerings. BUTTERWORTH: The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) has seized three containers of millets worth around RM390,881.09 from Ukraine at North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT), says Penang Maqis director Zarina Ramli. She said the department found three containers containing 3,120 sacks of millet weighing 67 tonnes during their routine inspection at NBCT on Jan 24 and Jan 26 respectively. “The containers did not comply with the conditions as stated on the valid Maqis import permit. “The items were seized for further action. “Failure to comply with the conditions of a valid Maqis import permit is an offense under Section 15 (1) of Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 (Act 728), which if convicted can result in a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six years, or both, under Section 15 (2) of the same Act, ” she said. ....
