It was 60 years ago that nighttime racing finally came to the Province of Ontario. On the evening of May 17, 1961 with a post time of 8:00 p.m., it all happened at Western Fair Raceway in London, Ontario. A few recollections of the times and some old photographs help to recall this very special moment in our sport s history. Article content Mark MacDonald served his final day with the Belleville Fire Department Monday after seven years of serving the community in the department’s senior role as fire chief. Corbett assumed the role Tuesday of acting chief. The city said, “Corbett will assume this role until the recruitment process for a new chief is completed. Corbett is a seasoned fire professional with a vast knowledge of the day-to day operations and administration of fire and emergency services departments, both career and volunteer.” ....

Yesterday was Chief Mark MacDonald’s last day in the position – The city says Corbett is a leader in day-to-day operations, administration and emergency services at the fire department, having graduated from Dalhousie University and working as the Deputy Fire Chief of Operations in Kingston. Chief Administrative Officer Rod Bovay says the city appreciates all of MacDonald’s hard work in Belleville, adding that the city also looks forward to working with Corbett, in his new position as acting fire chief. ....
