Mar 13, 2021 Rita Ann Porpotage Norbury, 74, of Barling, AR, and formerly of Lewistown, PA, passed to eternal life on Tuesday, March 9, at 10:23 pm CT. Having lived with courage, grace, and patience throughout her life, her approach to cancer embodied the same qualities during her final year on earth. Always wanting to allay others’ fears, Rita’s reply to “How are you doing today?” was more often than not, “Pretty fair.” Rita was born in Lewistown, PA, on Feb. 3, 1947, and was preceded in death by her parents, Michael J. and Kathryn Z. Porpotage, in 1992 and 2013, respectively; dear “Grammy,” who was a second mother; her sister-in-law Christa Porpotage; and brother-in-law David Sigler. Rita is survived by her son John Norbury, of Barling, AR; daughter, Jennifer Norbury and Roy Culley of Heavener, OK; and son James (Jake) Norbury, and his wife, Alisa, of Guam; her grandchildren: Rhett Norbury, of Talihina, OK ; Tyler Blagg, of Durant, OK; Jorie Bandy, of Hea ....
Marjorie Tyson Brandt, 95, of Burnham passed to eternal life Feb. 18, 2021. Born Sept. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John D. Tyson and Ruth Meek Tyson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton K. Brandt, Jr., her stepson, Milton K. Brandt, III and her daughter, Rebecca Brandt Amendola Maggard. Surviving are two daughters: Robin A. Brandt, of Pittsburgh and JoAnne Brandt Dolan, of Baltimore; her brother, John D. Tyson, Jr., and wife Marilyn Tyson, of North Carolina; three grandchildren; Justin L. Amendola, of California and Kelly Brandt Coburn and Chris Brandt Rogers, both of Lewistown; five great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. ....
Daniel Paul Wright, 73, passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2021, at his home in Ephrata. Born in Lewistown to Paul Erb Wright and Helen O. (Snyder) Wright on Oct. 4, 1947, Dan graduated as Valedictorian from Chief Logan High School, Mifflin County, in 1965. At Chief Logan, Dan’s achievements were many including earning the distinction of National Merit Scholar, which afforded him the honor of traveling to Washington, D.C., where he was officially recognized by President Lyndon B. Johnson. After high school, Dan attended Harvard University where he studied Far Eastern Government and was a member of the Class of 1969. He went on to spend most of his working years in the garment industry. Most notably, he owned his own factory, Woolwright, in Pine Grove, and later worked as the General Manager for Calvin Klein Sport Inc., Nesquehoning.
