JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - You better slow down when driving downtown. The Jonesboro Police Department has extra officers patrolling on Main and Union street this week.
Police Chief Rick Elliott says you should put yourself in others’ shoes. He says many people work and shop downtown, and the last thing they want to worry about is getting run over.
“The downtown area is one of our great assets, and we want to protect that. We want people to be able to walk, move back and forth across the street without being in fear of being run over,” said Elliott. ....

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - In the Arkansas legislature, a bill has been filed that will â if approved by lawmakers â require those selling and purchasing catalytic converters to provide and require a lot of information and identification.
The person selling the part must provide a description and license number of the car they have and if it is a catalytic converter, more detail is needed.
Other information like address, gender, birth date, driverâs license number, and more will be required. ....

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - In the Arkansas House of Representatives, a bill has been filed called âGaboâs Lawâ created after the death of Jonesboro Police Departmentâs K-9, Gabo.
Since his death, Arkansas State Representatives Jimmy Gazaway, Jack Ladyman, and State Senator David Wallace wrote the bill to possibly be passed in this yearâs legislative session.
It will allow ambulance transport and treatment in-route to a veterinary clinic if they are injured in the line of duty. ....

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Both NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital and St. Bernards Medical Center have nearly administered all of their Phase 1 COVID-19 vaccines.
Phase 2 covers more medical frontline workers and those in the community.
The second round of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive this week for both hospitals.
NEA Baptistâs next shipment will be 975 vaccines, and St. Bernards will be getting 2,200 vaccines.
So far, neither hospital has received communications about the Moderna vaccine. ....
