I want you to meet someone; someone you’d probably never see as you move around Edmonds.
He is autistic. He is homeless. He has been a civic headache for Edmonds. His situation has left the city baffled; one social service worker admitting we “don’t know what to do for ‘Charlie’.”
The city’s dilemma has involved the mayor’s office, police, the city attorney, social workers, the parks department and Edmonds’ fledgling human services office. Edmonds has spent dozens of hours across all those departments to try to resolve the problem of “Charlie.” And he is just one of a number in this area who are homeless, or living in poverty, or with mental health, drug or substance abuse issues. ....

Incident type listed as Suicide in log
The police log entry, which was previously removed from the public log, lists several officers going to the scene at 7:04 a.m.
“Calling party reports 16 y/o hung herself in a tree, D.O.A.,” the log item reads. (D.O.A. stands for dead on arrival.)
The dispatcher log entry lists “Incident Type,” as “Suicide.”
In the statement, Bennett said some information could not be released, particularly those involving a fight on April 17 involving Miller and several teens because it is a domestic abuse investigation, which is not allowed to be released to the public. Strothers said her daughter was jumped by five teens, including two with family members on the Hopkinton police force. Ryan has previously said Miller fought with two teens – a boy and a girl. ....

The Hopkinton Police Department on Wednesday released the recording of the 911 call made the morning of April 18, when teenager Mikayla Miller’s body was discovered in the woods, along with other records outlining law enforcement’s immediate response to the 16-year-old girl’s death.
Miller, who was Black and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, was found dead by a person jogging on a path near 34 West Main St. in Hopkinton around 7:45 a.m. Sunday, April 18, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office. ....
