Jeffrey Perry ’89, Ph.D.’ 18, senior lecturer in the Department of Global Development, received the Golden Owl award Feb. 23 in honor of his contributions to agricultural education in New York state.
The Golden Owl award a partnership between the New York Farm Bureau, New York FFA, and Nationwide honors ag educators statewide for teaching the next generation of agricultural leaders. This is the first year that the award has been given in New York. ....

Prairie Central agriculture instructor up for teaching honor

Kyle Miller, an agricultural teacher at Prairie Central High School, has been named a finalist for Ag Educator of the Year in Illinois through Nationwide’s Golden Owl Award. This award recognizes the tremendous contributions of agricultural teachers in California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania in preparing the next generation of young people for successful careers in agriculture.
Each finalist will receive $500 in funding and the teachers will be entered into a final selection stage for the chance to be selected as their state’s Ag Educator of the Year. In spring 2021, one finalist from each state will be chosen as the grand-prize winner and will receive the designation of Ag Educator of the Year, a $3,000 Nationwide-funded cash award and the coveted Golden Owl Award trophy. ....

Eight FFA Advisors Selected for Indiana Golden Owl Award Nomination

The Indiana FFA Association and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, in partnership with Nationwide Insurance and Farm Credit Mid-America, have selected eight Indiana FFA agriculture educators as nominees for a Golden Owl Award. Nationwide established the Golden Owl Award to honor teachers and support them with additional resources to assist their continued educational efforts in preparing the next generation for successful agricultural careers.
“Our agricultural educators have committed so much extra time and resources to their students this year, with re-planning almost every FFA event and reworking lessons plans to become virtual, I am thankful that Nationwide Insurance and Farm Credit Mid-America allowed us the opportunity to give back to them,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch. “I appreciated the opportunity to participate in awarding these eight deserving Hoosier educators.” ....
