Mumbai: The Bombay high court asked the Mumbai police on Wednesday that since the latter claimed to have adequate evidence against Republic TV and its editor in chief Arnab Goswami in the alleged television rating points (TRP) scam, why had they not named them as accused in the case.

The bench of Justices SS Shinde and Manish Pitale demanded an explanation on how there was no evidence against the news channel despite three months of investigation.

The bench of Justices SS Shinde and Manish Pitale also demanded to know why they had not named the channel as an accused yet,
Live Law reported.
Justice Shinde said, There are two chargesheets, and there seems to be no evidence against them. And also is there a statutory requirement that the investigation should be completed before the High Court takes cognisance.

Mumbai: In the ongoing TRP scam case, the Enforcement Directorate has attached immovable and movable properties and balances in bank account totaling Rs 32 crore of television channels namely Fakt Marathi, Box Cinema, and Maha Movie.
The Enforcement Directorate release said that investigations have revealed that the Proceeds of Crime for these channels is to the tune of Rs 46 crore. ED initiated an investigation on the basis of an FIR registered by Mumbai Police.

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday asked the Mumbai Police why Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami had not been named as an accused in the FIR in the Television Ratings Points (TRP) manipulation case, and directed the prosecutor to inform it by Thursday if they plan to do so.
