(Photo courtesy of INDYCAR) Indiana native Conor Daly will run a partial NTT IndyCar Series schedule in 2021 with Ed Carpenter Racing as teammate to owner/driver Carpenter and 2020 Rookie of the Year Rinus VeeKay. Daly will drive ECR’s No. 20 Chevrolet in the series’ 13 road and street-course events. Carpenter will drive the No. 20 in the series’ four oval-track events, with Daly to wheel another ECR entry in the 105th edition of the Indianapolis 500 in May. “It feels incredible to have another year together with (sponsor) U.S. Air Force and Ed Carpenter Racing,” Daly said in a team news release from Indianapolis. “Continuity has always been helpful for me in my career; the fact that we are able to hit the ground running in 2021 already having experience together gives me a lot of confidence. Carlin: Shades of Verstappen in Tsunoda Date published: December 21 2020 Trevor Carlin has tipped his former driver Yuki Tsunoda for a bright future in Formula 1, even making a Max Verstappen comparison. Tsunoda made his debut in the Formula 2 series in 2020 with the Carlin team, and the Red Bull junior proved to be arguably the surprise package of the season, taking three race wins on his way to P3 in the Drivers’ Championship. Tsunoda ended the season on 200 points, just one behind Ferrari junior Callum Ilott who completed his second full F2 season in 2020. Those performances for Tsunoda were enough to convince Red Bull to place him in an AlphaTauri seat for 2021 alongside Pierre Gasly, and Carlin believes the Japanese racer could have a similar impact to that of McLaren’s Lando Norris in Formula 1. ....

Tsunoda, who replaces Russian Daniil Kvyat, finished third in this year’s Formula Two Championship with seven podiums including victory in two feature races and a sprint race. The 20-year-old will be the first driver born in or after 2000 to race for a Formula One team. The last Japanese driver on the grid was Kamui Kobayashi with Caterham. ....
