17-year-old rescued from house fire in Reynoldsburg

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio A 17-year-old boy was rescued from a house fire that happened Tuesday night in Reynoldsburg.
The Truro Township fire chief says firefighters went to the 7000 block of Prior Place just before 9:30 p.m. on a report of a fire.
The boy was taken to Nationwide Children s Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. He is in stable condition.
Other family members were able to escape from the home.
The fire started in the kitchen, according to the fire chief. There s no word on what caused the flames. ....

White SUV had no involvement in fatal mass shooting at Truro shopping plaza

Franklin County Sheriff s detectives announced Thursday they have determined a white SUV had no involvement in a fatal drive-by shooting April 17 outside a Truro Township shopping plaza.
Detectives are now focused solely on the dark-colored Dodge Durango, Maureen Kocot, a sheriff s office spokeswoman, said in an email.
LaToya Renee Carpenter, 39, was killed about 7:30 p.m. April 17 as she drove eastbound on the 5000 block of Chatterton Road in front of the Refugee Center shopping plaza in Truro Township while en route to pick up her 11-year-old daughter.
At the same time, a dark sports utility vehicle believed to be a Dodge Durango was driving west on Chatterton Road toward nearby Noe-Bixby Road. REYNOLDSBURG A drive-by shooting at memorial vigil for an earlier homicide victim killed a passing motorist and wounded five people in the crowd, including a 12-year-old child, police said.
Columbus detectives said a small group had gathered at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Truro Township lot southeast of the city to mark one year since another person was killed at the same location. At about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police said, a dark-colored sport utility vehicle drove past and someone opened fire, hitting five people.
In addition, Latoya Carpenter, 39, who was driving past the location was struck in the head by gunfire and crashed into a parked car in an apartment building parking lot next door, police said. Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene, they said. ....
