Developer Charles Ma says KiwiRail’s plans to build a new Drury West train station 1.5km away from his development doesn t make sense.
Developer Charles Ma says KiwiRail’s plans to build a new station in Drury west, 1.5 km from his company’s Auranga development, defies “common sense”.
But the Government-owned rail operator says it weighed up its options and came to the best result for the area.
Ma is the chief executive of Ma Development Enterprises (MADE) and the managing director of the Auranga development, a subdivision on the outskirts of Drury West in south Auckland which is set to bring up to 3000 new homes to the area over the next five years. ....

Southern Station Locations Announced


KiwiRail and the Supporting Growth Alliance (Auckland
Transport and Waka Kotahi) have today confirmed their
proposed sites for three new stations in southern Auckland
and will now begin more detailed consultation with
stakeholders about their development.
Over the next 30
years, an extra 120,000 people are expected to live in the
area, which will also have 40,000 new houses and 38,000 new
jobs. The development of the new stations and their
associated facilities will be staged over time to coincide
with demands from developments feeding each
location.
KiwiRail has been given funding through the
Government s NZ Upgrade Programme for the first phase of

Three new stations announced for train line through growing south Auckland

A $315 million rail line through south Auckland will be completed in time for the opening of the City Rail Link in 2024.
Three new stations are set to be added to the southern train network as south Auckland s population continues to grow.
With more than 40,000 new houses set to built and 38,000 new jobs expected over the next 30 years, KiwiRail has committed to building two stations in Drury and one in Paerata.
All the stations will be on the existing rail line, with Drury Central to be located south of Waihoehoe Rd, between Flanagan and Great South roads; the Drury West station about 450m south of the existing intersection of SH22/Karaka Rd and Jesmond Rd; and the Paerata station adjacent to the planned eastern extent of the Paerata Rise development. ....
